A cultural tour of Slovenia

Slovenia is indeed a special place. Regardless of where you cross the border, you can expect to witness an exciting phenomenon: the sheer diversity of the landscape, which changes quite stunningly. A short drive of just over two hours will take you from the blue Mediterranean waters to Alpine peaks. From there, the Pannonian basin is not very far away, nor are the gentle rolling hills of Dolenjska. And then there is the mysterious underworld of the Karst. The common feature is the green...and unspoilt land. Everything is close at hand and easily accessible. A visit to Slovenia is an experience you are bound to re-live over and over again!

Day 01 MON: Arrival Ljubljana
Upon arrival at Ljubljana airport we are cordially welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is free followed by a welcome meeting and tour orientation.
Overnight: Hotel Central, Ljubljana (1 night)

Day 02 TU: Postojna and Lipica
The day is reserved for the Karst region. We visit the world famour Postojna
Caves and then continue to Predjama medieval castle perched in the middle of a cliff. We then drive to the Slovenian coast. Dinner is at a local restaurant.
Overnight: Piran Hotel, Piran (1 night) (B, D)

Day 03 WED: Piran, Portoroz and Goriska Brda
Portoroz, popular tourist resort and then continue to the Secovlje Salt -pans. We turn inland and travel to Nova Gorica. Balance of the day is at leisure or one can take an optional tour to the vineyard region of Goriska Brda and taste the local cuisine and wines.

Day 04 THU Soca Valley
Morning we drive upstream the emerald green Soca River via Kobarid (mentioned in Hemmingway’s Farewell To Arms) and visit the World War 1 Museum. Next we take a scenic drive to Bled culminating the day in this peaceful town beautifully situated in the Alps.

Day 05 FRI Bled
A sightseeing tour of Bled features the charming town with the lakeshore, and imposing Bled Castle, perched on a cliff high above the lake. Balance of the day is at leisure. Optional tour to the medieval town of Skofja Loka known for it’s castle that rises above the confluence of the two Sora rivers.

Day 06, SAT: Bled and Bohinj
Day at leisure in Bled. One can take advantage of taking an optional tour
to the other Alpine beauty – Lake Bohinj where one can visit the Sheppard’s Museum and taste the best Slovenian cheese. Return farewell dinner at a local restaurant. (B, D)

Day 07 SUN: depart
After breakfast w will be transferred to Ljubljana airport or Koper port airport for your flight. An ideal opportunity of extending your tour to join other Bestway or customized tours. (B)
