A cultural tour of
Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea & Hong Kong

The Orient is a unique and exotic world if its own offering rich experiences of friendly people, vibrant culture, history, and enchanting scenery. In addition to all of this is a wide variety of delicious local and international cuisine and some of the best shopping in the world. Our Gems of the Orient tour is a 2-week journey that offers all of this and a lot of fun.

Day 01: Monday Arrive Singapore
Today we arrive in Singapore, one of the cleanest cities in the world. We are warmly welcomed and transferred to our hotel with the balance of the day at leisure to recover from the long flight.
Overnight: York Hotel, Singapore (2 nights) (B)

Day 02: Tuesday Singapore
Our experience of the Orient starts with a morning tour of Singapore that includes a drive through the very interesting and busy Orchard Street followed by a tour of the famous Indiatown, Arabtown and then Chinatown. Each area exemplifies the rich multicultural background of Singaporeans. We take a glimpse of the world famous Raffel Hotel. Afternoon is at leisure to explore Singapore and take advantage of the bargains in this duty free city-state. (B)

Day 03: Wednesday Singapore / Tampin / Malacca
Early morning we are transferred to the railway station for an interesting three hour train ride to Tampin (train timing subject to change). Enjoy the rural scenery as the train passes through villages and plantations. Upon arrival our local guide meets us and we proceed to the historic city of Malacca. We tour the historic sites including the Cheng Hoon Teng Temple - the oldest functioning Chinese temple in Malaysia, Kampung Kling Mosque, Jonker Street (Antique Row), Baba and Nyonya Museum, Stadhuy's Building, Malacca Clock Tower, Christ Church and the famous Porta de Santiago.
Overnight: Renaissance Hotel, Malacca (1 night) (B)


Day 04: Thursday Malacca / Kuala Lumpur

We get a great country view as we drive to Kuala Lumpur where, upon arrival, we tour this capital city of Malaysia. We start with a photo stop at the King's Palace followed by a visit to the National Mosque and Railway Station, the National Monument, Independence Square, Sultan Abdul, photo stops at the famous Samad building and the Selangor Club, St Mary's Church and the world tallest free-standing flagpole. Continue to visit the Seri Mahamariaman Temple and colourful Chinatown for bargain hunting. We culminate the city tour with a visit to the tallest Communication Tower in South East Asia for a panoramic view of the City.
Overnight: Ming Court, Kuala Lumpur (2 nights) (B)

Day 05: Friday Kuala Lumpur
This morning we tour the countryside where we visit Ambassadors Road, a pewter factory, (Malaysia is one of the biggest producers of tin), Batu Caves, the sacred cave temple for Hindus and a batik factory. Balance of the day at leisure to discover the bargains, cafes and restaurants of Kuala Lumpur. (B)

Day 06: Saturday Kuala Lumpur / Cameron Highlands
Morning we take a scenic drive to the Cameron Highland, located at 1542m / 1686yds above sea level, famed for its tea plantations and cool temperature. En route, we visit a basket weaving cottage industry, the Lata Iskandar Waterfall and a native settlement. We arrive in Cameron early afternoon and the balance of the day is at leisure to enjoy the cool, crisp air of the Cameron Highlands.

Day 07: Sunday Cameron Highlands / Penang
We start the day with a tour of the Cameron Highlands including the tea plantation, tea factory, market place and the famous butterfly farm. Afternoon, we depart for Penang visiting the Sam Poh Tong Cave Temple in Ipoh, the Ubudiah Mosque, Iskandariah Palace and Istana Kenangan. We cross over to Penang using the fifth longest bridge in the world
Overnight: Bayview Beach Resort, Penang (2 nights) (B)

Day 08: Monday Penang
Morning is our tour of this interesting town and beach resort which includes the 3rd longest Reclining Buddha in the world, next is the Botanical Gardens which offers lush green surroundings with a wide variety of tropical plants and bird life. Visit the Kek Lok Si Temple built in 1904, the most beautiful and largest Buddha Temple Complex in South East Asia, known as the Temple of 1000 Buddhas, and Fort Cornwallis where Captain Francis Light first landed. Continue to the old part of Georgetown where the Khoo Kong Si Clan House is located. Enjoy a breezy trishaw ride. Late evening we have free time to explore the nightlife along Batu Ferringhi - the Penang style. (B)

Day 09: Tuesday Penang / Bangkok (flight)
Morning we take a short flight to Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. We are warmly received and transferred to our hotel. Evening we take an interesting cruise on the River Chao Phraya. This journey is the most pleasant way to discover the many riches of the city. We pass through historical and religious monuments including the Royal Barges which houses exquisite carvings of mythical figures.
Overnight: Amari Atrium, Bangkok (2 nights) (B)

Day 10: Wednesday Bangkok
Morning we take a tour of the "city of smiles" and visit the magnificent Grand Palace followed by the Emerald Buddha Temple and the popular Wat Pho - the reclining Buddha. We drive around the city and witness the everyday activities of the people residing along the banks of the Chao Phraya, the mighty "River of Kings". Bangkok is probably the world's shopping paradise and this afternoon and evening are free for just that. (B)

Day 11: Thursday Bangkok
Morning we take a tour of the "city of smiles" and visit the magnificent GrandPalace followed by the Emerald Buddha Temple and the popular Wat Pho - the recliningBuddha. We drive around the city and witness the everyday activities of the peopleresiding along the banks of the Chao Phraya, the mighty "River of Kings". Thisafternoon is free to enjoy optional tours. (B)

Day 12: Friday Bangkok
Bangkok is probably the world's shopping paradise and this afternoon and eveningis free for just that. (B)

Day 13: Saturday Bangkok / Seoul (flight)
Today we fly from Bangkok to another interesting part of the Orient - Seoul,South Korea. Upon arrival we are met and transferred to our hotel. Evening freeto enjoy the nightlife of Seoul.

Day 14: Sunday Seoul
Our tour of the South Korean capital starts with the panoramic Mt. Namsan lookout,South Gate Market and Changdeokgung Secret garden. This tour of Seoul will giveus a memorable experience of both old and new Korea. In Changdeok Palace, shadedbeneath the boughs of huge old trees lovely pavilions and lotus ponds welcomeyou back into the Joseon Kingdom. A visit to South Gate Open Market, the largestin Asia, is followed by a visit to Mt. Namsan Park. Afternoon free. (B)

Day 15: Monday Seoul / Hong Kong (flight)
We cross the Yellow Sea and the East China Sea as we fly to Hong Kong. This hustlingand bustling place is a major attraction to people visiting the Orient. We arewelcomed and transferred to our hotel. Evening is free to enjoy the nightlifeof Hong Kong.

Day 16: Tuesday Hong Kong
Morning we tour this world famous city. Our tour covers a visit to Victoria Peak- Hong Kong's most popular spot where we get an excellent panoramic view of thecity, followed by the Kowloon Peninsula, the Repulse Bay with its huge statuesof Tin Hau - goddess of the sea. We also visit the floating village of Aberdeen.Afternoon and evening is free for shopping or enjoying the nightlife and nightshopping that Hong Kong offers. (B)

Day 17: Wednesday Hong Kong / departure
After an interesting journey through these five countries, we bid farewell aswe are transferred to the airport for our departure flight. (B)
