High
up in the Andes is landlocked Bolivia, the Tibet
of the Americas. Explore the cultural wealth of
the country, as it has the highest concentration
of indigenous people, who to this day maintain their
traditional ways and beliefs.
Lake Titicaca is the highest navigable lake in the
world (3,800 meters, 12,507 feet) and has been one
of the main focuses of human settlement in South
America since prehistoric times. The remains found
at Tiahuanaco near the southeastern end of the lake
attest to the previous existence of one of the oldest
civilizations known in the Americas, preceding that
of the Aymara and Inca.
Bolivia also features a host of different landscapes:
The central valleys, where crops such as corn were
produced for thousands of years, the jungles of
the Amazon in the northern and eastern regions of
the country and the Chaco area, with its dry savannah
forests. |

Tours and Travels to Canada
We are currently fine tuning our programs for
Canada. Please stay tuned... |
| Canada
has been a popular tourist destination for many
years and once experienced the "why?"
becomes clear. Canada's obvious attractions are
those of natural wonder. The beauty of the Rocky
Mountains take one's breath away while the wild
Atlantic Coast evokes a sense of perspective and
awe. This majestic country is also home to many
exceptional animals ranging from the sturdy symbol
of Canada, the beaver, to the many species of
whale that grace both coasts each year.
More than all of this, and often missed, is the
cultural diversity of this relatively new country.
Originally colonized by the British and French,
Canada's population has been made up of immigrants
from all over the world each bringing their own
unique peculiarities and flavour. Unlike our close
cousin the US, the Canadian approach to immigration
has been that of a mosaic rather than a melting
pot and as a result of this Canada has become
a tapestry of people and cultures each finding
its own niche in the Canadian Mosaic. From the
distinctly French feel of Old Montreal to the
rough mariners of Prince Edward Island, the immaculate
old English gardens of Victoria British Columbia
and the hustle and bustle of Chinatown in Vancouver,
the signs of great cultural diversity are evident
everywhere.

The
smallest country in the rugged Andean chain, Ecuador
is one of the most rewarding travel destinations
in South America. With a host of indigenous cultures,
reflected in an array of vibrant and colourful
markets, the stunningly well preserved colonial
architecture of Quito, remarkable volcanic landscapes
and dense Amazonian rainforest, it has more points
of interest than many countries twice its size.
Ecuador is also a country of astounding biodiversity,
boasting 1600 bird species , 4500 butterfly species
and over 3500 orchid species, to cite just a few
examples.
The Galapagos Islands, owned by Ecuador since
1832, have gone down in history for their pivotal
role in shaping Charles Darwin's theories on evolution.
These far-flung islands are lauded as one of the
world's greatest natural history treasures with
their unique diversity of plant and animal life. |

For
a long time the riches of the Incas have fuelled
the European imagination, although in many ways
the country's real appeal lies in the sheer beauty
of its various landscapes, the abundance of its
wildlife, and the strong and colourful character
of the people. Most people tend to visualize the
country as mountainous, and are aware of the great
Inca relics, but many are unaware of the splendour
of the immense desert coastline with their huge
rolling dunes, farmland oases and fishing villages
and the rich biodiversity of the tropical rainforest
of the Amazon Basin, which occupies half of Peru.
History comes alive in on our Peru tours. Visit
the ancient Incan capital of Cuzco, explore the
lost city of Machu Picchu, ponder the enigma of
the Nazca Lines and wander around colonial cities
which have preserved the legacy of the Spanish
conquistadors.
The Peruvian Andes are home to millions of highland
Indians who still speak the ancient tongue of
Quechua and maintain a traditional way of life.
Peru is possibly the most varied and exciting
country of South America. Come and see for yourself
on one of our Peru tours. |
