Indian Ocean Islands

South Sudan
The most newest country in the world. 2 interesting journeys cover both the cultural as well as the game parks that South Sudan is well known for.  Both tours start off from Juba the capital of South Sudan and are of 11 and 5 days in duration giving the option to combine with neighbouring countries like Uganda, Ethiopia, etc. Bestway has tours to most of the new countries including all of the recent five – South Sudan, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro and Timor-Leste (East Timor).

As part of our educational activities and for the armchair travelers, we are airing four webinars in the next 2 months. The webinar has stunning images with a live commentary and an opportunity to ask questions and will last 30 minutes each. The webinars are free to attend and at the comfort of your home or office. Afghanistan
Strange as it may sound, Afghanistan is making a break through into tourism. In the last few years the country has opened new border check posts with neighbouring countries like Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. Additionally some four new all weather airports have been opened. Kabul, which is linked with Dubai, Delhi and Islamabad however still remains as the most popular gateway into Afghanistan. Bestway Tours has been offering tours to Afghanistan for several years.

Each year over a million wildebeest and some 300,000 zebras, and antelopes gather up their young and start their long trek from Tanzania's Serengeti Plains north to Kenya's Masai Mara National Reserve. They go in search of food and water. Their journey runs in a clockwise circle and the animals cover a distance of around 1800 miles. It's a tough journey, and every year an estimated 250,000 wildebeest don't make it.

One of the most spectacular sights of the migration is when the herds gather to cross the Grumeti River in Tanzania and the Mara River in Kenya. This usually takes place from July through September. As the herds cross, crocodiles are lying in wait for any weak and feeble ungulates that can't cope with the strong currents or lose their mothers.

Some interesting facts:

1. Wildebeest are also called Gnu because of the grunts they make which sound like "gnu" "gnu".
2. Wildebeest young are almost all born during a three-week period (an estimated 400,000 each year). This overwhelming supply of potential food for predators means more of them survive.
3. Wildebeest are born to run. They can run alongside their mothers just minutes after they are born.
4. Zebra and wildebeest graze in harmony because each animal prefers a different part of the same grass.
5. No two zebra look exactly the same.
6. It is estimated that around 250,000 wildebeest die while on the migration circuit.

The migration is a natural phenomenon that only started in the 1960's. We have several different safaris in Kenya & Tanzania.
